Motivated Young Athletes
This program is designed for athletes ages 9–15 who are confident on most groomed terrain and ready for tougher off-piste challenges. They are skiers who love the mountain, show up eager to improve, and have the focus, independence, and maturity to follow coaching direction. They enjoy the feeling of real training and want to keep progressing — but aren't looking for a competitive program just yet.
Looking for the Next Step?
For athletes who want to advance their mastery and exploration of skiing on our home Snowbasin mountain without a competitive focus, this is exactly that next step. Training runs one or two days per week — Saturday and/or Sunday — and is built around solidifying foundational ski technique while introducing more technical and creative skill-building in Snowbasin's world-class terrain. These athletes are seeking thrills, growing their skills, and becoming the kind of well-rounded skiers the mountain rewards.
What do you get?
Athletes build the core movements that drive freeride growth — air awareness, edge control, switch skiing, grabs, and spins — with a strong emphasis on safe approach tactics from day one.
Kids learn to read and move through natural terrain both on and off-piste — bumps, cliffs, trees — developing well-rounded, adaptable skiing that works in any condition.
Coaches guide athletes through progressive challenges that sharpen decision-making, risk assessment, and speed management, all while nurturing creativity, individual expression, and genuine confidence on the hill.
Athletes develop goal-setting, accountability, and teamwork — and find themselves part of a lifelong community bound together by a shared passion for the mountains.

Required AMF Equipment
Ski Boots
Should feel snug (like a firm handshake) but never painful.
Toes lightly touch the front when standing, lift off when you flex forward.
Heel must stay firmly in place when flexing.
Most kids fit off-the-shelf; custom fitting by a master boot fitter only if necessary.
Prioritize comfort and a dry interior over stiffness.
Skis with Bindings
AMF requires two sets of skis: on-piste and off-piste
On-piste skis are narrow, cambered, flat-tail, and shorter (chin to nose). Consider skis like Atomic Redster style
Off-piste skis are strong, with a Rocker-Camber profile more than 80mm wide and long (nose to top of head). Consider skis like Atomic Bent Chetler mini
Helmet & Goggles
Ski Pants, Gloves, Layers
Outerwear: 20,000 mm-rated team jacket; 10,000–20,000 mm-rated snow pants.
Gloves/Mittens: Insulated and weather-resistant.
Layers: Base layer + fleece/down mid-layer; adjust by temperature.
Socks: One pair—two pairs can cause discomfort.
Ski Poles
When the athlete is in their boots, have them hold the pole upside-down under the basket, while the handle end is on the level ground. When their elbow is at 90°, the pole is the correct size.
Back Protector
Please note that additional equipment may be required or recommended for events.
