Devo
Offered Saturdays or Sundays, our Devo program introduces young athletes to all-mountain skiing and Alpine ski-racing in a 12-week, full-day program. We emphasize:
Safety
Fundamental skill development
Team building
Fun exploring the mountain
Skiers are placed in small training groups—grouped by age and ability—to ensure the right fit.
Our curriculum is built on the U.S. Ski Team Alpine Training System and PSIA fundamentals. Throughout the season, athletes progress through drills and tasks tailored to their level, with challenges increasing as they improve.
-
Devo athletes are ages 7-12 years old. (6 year olds with Devo Mini coach recommendation or program approval.) They need to be able to carry their own equipment and be able to load and unload the lift independently. Devo athletes must have the ability to ski green and blue terrain off the Wildcat Express Chairlift.
If your athlete isn’t ready this year, we recommend Snowbasin Resort Ski & Ride School Lessons. Next year, your athlete will feel more confident to take on the team challenge! -

Required Equipment
Ski Boots
Should feel snug (like a firm handshake) but never painful.
Toes lightly touch the front when standing, lift off when you flex forward.
Heel must stay firmly in place when flexing.
Most kids fit off-the-shelf; custom fitting by a master boot fitter only if necessary.
Prioritize comfort and a dry interior over stiffness.
Skis with Bindings
All-Mountain skis are ideal for skill development.
Ski length: sternum to chin
Avoid rockered, twin-tip, wide-fat, or park-specific skis for foundational learning.
Helmet & Goggles
Ski Pants, Gloves, Layers
Outerwear: 20,000 mm-rated team jacket; 10,000–20,000 mm-rated snow pants.
Gloves/Mittens: Insulated and weather-resistant.
Layers: Base layer + fleece/down mid-layer; adjust by temperature.
Socks: One pair—two pairs can cause discomfort.
Ski Poles
Poles are not recommended for athletes under 10 years old. Your coach will let you know when your skier needs poles, and what type to get. If your skier is already confidently using poles, they may bring them.
