Devo+

Offered Saturdays or Sundays, our Devo+ program advances young athletes in all-mountain skiing and Alpine ski-racing in a 12-week, full-day program. We emphasize:

  • Advanced Skill Development

  • Sportsmanship

  • Challenging Terrain

Skiers are placed in small training groups—grouped by age and ability—to ensure the right fit.

Devo+ is ideal for skiers considering a future move to our Freeride or Alpine Race programs, as it bridges foundational training with more competitive technique building.

  • Devo+ placement requires a Skills Quest Assessment or coach recommendation.

Devo+ athletes are ages 8-12 at the beginning of the season. They have mastered the Devo curriculum. They are confident parallel skiers on blue terrain and are ready for tougher challenges.
These skiers want to continue doing both speed and terrain training, and prefer not to narrow their focus yet.

If your athlete isn’t ready this year, we recommend competing another year of Devo, as there are plenty of varied ability levels to appropriately match any of our athletes. Next year, your athlete will feel more confident to take on the Devo+ challenge!

    • Devo Welcome Socials

Any athlete equipment rental or purchase will be additional. Many of our sponsors offer surprisingly deep discounts. We also host a gear swap at the beginning of the season, if you want to buy or sell used equipment.

  • Devo+ trains from 9AM to 3pm one day per week, on either all Saturdays or all Sundays (you choose at registration). Since they are on the lift at 9am, athletes meet their coaches near the Maples lot at 8:30. Pick up is in the same area at 3pm.

  • Required Devo+ Equipment

    • Ski Boots

      • Should feel snug (like a firm handshake) but never painful.

      • Toes lightly touch the front when standing, lift off when you flex forward.

      • Heel must stay firmly in place when flexing.

      • Most kids fit off-the-shelf; custom fitting by a master boot fitter only if necessary.

      • Prioritize comfort and a dry interior over stiffness.

    • Skis with Bindings

      • All-Mountain skis are ideal for skill development, but if your athlete knows if they prefer racing or freeride, that can influence their equipment choices.

      • Ski length: sternum to nose.

    • Helmet & Goggles

      • Hard Eared Helmet strongly recommended for Devo+

    • Ski Pants, Gloves, Layers

      • Outerwear: 20,000 mm-rated team jacket; 10,000–20,000 mm-rated snow pants.

      • Gloves/Mittens: Insulated and weather-resistant.

      • Layers: Base layer + fleece/down mid-layer; adjust by temperature.

      • Socks: One pair—two pairs can cause discomfort.

    • Ski Poles

      • When the athlete is in their boots, have them hold the pole upside-down under the basket, while the handle end is on the level ground. When their elbow is at 90°, the pole is the correct size.

Please note that additional equipment may be required if you select optional add-ons.
