Where do Devo Races Take Place?

1

Devo races on Saturday/Sunday we will race on Showboat, above the bottom of the Wildcat Express Lift.

Race Procedures

2

Athletes must remain inside the start area fencing, but outside of the arena until it is their turn to move into the gate or otherwise directed. Parents should remain outside of the start area fencing and arena unless serving as an approved volunteer. Coaches will do their best to communicate with their Team's parents on TeamSnap Chat to notify them when their team is up at the start area. Please see the Race Schedule below for a general idea of when your child's team is expected to race.

Teams will stay together and athletes on each team will make their run, in numerical order by team. Coaches will typically wait at the top of the start area to help any athletes who have fallen during their run.

Teams are directed to clear the finish arena when they have completed their run. Coaches will communicate a SAFE meeting area for their team at the bottom of the course, but off the course and outside of the arena.

Safe Walking Zones to Race Finish

Athletes who Did Not Start (DNS), are Disqualified (DSQ), or Did Not Finish (DNF) will not be considered for an award. Some reasons for DSQ or DNF include incorrect gate passage, falling, and/or coming to a stop. In the event of a course/timing issue or interference, a provisional re-run may be granted by the jury.

Devo U8 = Ages 6-7

Devo U10 = Ages 8-9

Devo U12+ = Ages 10+

The finish area of the race on Showboat is accessible on foot. You do not have to ski or snowboard to access the venue. A lift ticket or a pass is not required. The easiest access is from the Wildcat Parking Lot "K". This lot typically fills up very early. Arrival before 7:30 am is recommended but does not guarantee a spot. Please remember as you move across the hill towards the Showboat finish area that skiers and snowboarders have the right of way. Be sure to look uphill and yield to anyone moving downhill. Our goal is to safely move all our spectators to the race course. This Safe Walking Route has been set up and approved by Snowbasin Resort specifically for this event. Please make every effort to adhere to this route! And please stay below the "Slow" signs that will be put in place by Snowbasin specifically for this event and the safe passage of our race day guests.

Obviously, if you prefer to ski over to the bottom of Showboat you can use any trail to access that area.

When walking to the race, PLEASE stay to the side of a run, remain clearly visible to uphill traffic, and yield to fast-moving skier and snowboarder traffic when crossing trails. Safety first!

All teams (Devo Mini, Devo, and Devo+) and athletes are registered for the race on their regular training day. This is designed to be a fun-filled day allowing the athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills and push themselves too. This is much more than a ski race, this event will embrace our team culture by having parents and friends gathering around to support the athletes. The athletes will develop skills around performance with course inspection, imagery, and managing the excitement that comes with competition.
