Welcome Jimena Carlin as Head FIS Coach ~ Snowbasin Sports Education Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 1, 2026

OGDEN, Utah — The Snowbasin Sports Education Foundation (SSEF) is pleased to announce the addition of Jimena Carlin. Carlin brings more than two decades of competitive ski racing and high-level coaching experience across Europe, South America, and North America, making her one of the most internationally seasoned coaches to join the program.

Born and raised in Spain with dual Spanish-American citizenship, Carlin began her ski racing career on the slopes of her home country and went on to compete at the FIS level in three disciplines — Giant Slalom, Slalom, and Super-G — over a 13-year career across Europe. She completed her competitive career at a high school in the French Pyrenees before turning fully to coaching, a decision she describes as a natural evolution of a lifelong investment in the sport.

Her academic foundation is equally international. Carlin studied Sports Science at the University of Grenoble, France, and earned a degree in Adventure Performance & Coaching from the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland — an experience that, in her own words, “opened my eyes to the full breadth of outdoor sport beyond ski racing” and deepened her understanding of what it means to truly develop an athlete.

“Ski racing has given me passion, purpose, and a lifelong project to keep growing in. That’s exactly what I want to bring to Snowbasin: a genuine commitment to this community and the knowledge and energy to help it thrive.”

— Jimena Carlin

Carlin’s coaching career has taken her across three continents. She spent four years as a coach and ski instructor with Ski Zenit in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, where she directed the FIS program, led advanced video analysis, and managed athlete development from U12 through U18 levels. She has also coached at the senior level at Nevis Range Ski Resort in Scotland, instructed with the French Ski School (ESF) in Font-Romeu, served as Secondary FIS Coach with the British Ski Academy in Italy, and coached U14 athletes with Club Valle Nevado in Chile during a South American winter season.

Most recently, Carlin joined the coaching staff at Rowmark Ski Academy in Salt Lake City as an Assistant Women’s FIS Coach, working with athletes in both technical and speed disciplines — a role that brought her to the Wasatch Front and introduced her to the Utah ski community she is now proud to call home.

“Jimena’s career is unlike almost anything we’ve seen — she has competed and coached at the FIS level on multiple continents, she speaks three languages fluently, and she carries a deep personal understanding of what ski racing demands from an athlete,” said Troy Price, SSEF Executive Director. “We are thrilled to have her energy and expertise in the program as we continue to expand.”

Among her technical credentials, Carlin holds the Swiss Ski Instructor Patente — the highest technical qualification in the Swiss system — and is Eurotest certified. She is fluent in Spanish (native), French, and English, an asset in SSEF’s diverse and growing athlete community.

Carlin currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah.
